The Emergency Radiology section at Vancouver General Hospital is the first 24 x 7 radiology service in Canada and one of a handful of sites in the world to offer this service. Our section serves one of the busiest Level 1 trauma accredited emergency departments in North America, performing approximately 100 CT scans, 5 MRIs, 10-20 Ultrasounds, and over 100 X-rays per day.
Our Emergency Radiology section provides imaging excellence in trauma, acute care, coronary disease, and stroke, and has pioneered protocols and published an extensive volume of original research. As a center of excellence in Emergency Radiology, the section has caused a paradigm shift in patient care and continues to play a role in continuing medical education, resident and fellowship training, research, and clinical practice.
Our Emergency Radiologists and trainees have made impactful contributions to annual meetings of the Radiological Society of North America, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the American Society of Emergency Radiology and the World Association for Disaster and Emergency Medicine.
